The previous day was a rough one, training wise. The NYC marathon is only 17 days away so I spent Sunday getting in my final long run in before the taper.<\/p>\n<p>I had the best intentions to kick butt &#8211; so I very enthusiastically (which also translates to &#8220;way too quickly&#8221;), ran 7 miles to the start of a half marathon race. What was I thinking?!<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 235px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/fatlossaccelerators.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/20121017-143549.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[1002]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full \" style=\"cursor: default; -webkit-user-drag: none; padding: 0px; margin: 0px; border: 0px none initial;\" title=\"Grete's Great Gallop\" src=\"http:\/\/fatlossaccelerators.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/20121017-143549.jpg\" alt=\"Grete's Great Gallop\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Splattered in Central Park<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Massive fail.<\/p>\n<p>Basically, I destroyed myself running. And I completely bonked.<\/p>\n<p>Some days, your workout (and life) doesn&#8217;t go to plan.<\/p>\n<p>We all make silly little mistakes. Myself included. (I am not superhuman, in fact far from it). But when things don&#8217;t work out as you hoped, you are faced with two options:<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>1. Quit <\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>2. Get Tough<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Listen, quitting is never an option in my world. I hate quitters. This is ultimately what separates success from failure.<\/p>\n<p>So really, getting tough is the choice. On these dark days, the only thing that gets you across the finish line to your goal is<strong> your mindset.<\/strong> Draw energy from the positives. Even if there&#8217;s only one, which is finishing.<\/p>\n<p>But the big message here is this:<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>You need a strong mind to train hard<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>There is nothing more awesome than an intense workout to get a bump out of the slump.\u00a0You know, I used to religiously take naps around 2 or 3pm when I felt lousy, thanks to all the sugar I stuffed myself with &#8211; until I discovered the power of a fast, uplifting workout.<\/p>\n<p>The workout below is the perfect way to burn fat, without slowly destroying yourself (like I did on Sunday).<\/p>\n<p>But I&#8217;m warning you, it is intense. The choice is yours.<\/p>\n<p>So, ready to tackle today&#8217;s totally insane fat loss workout?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Warm up<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Foam rolling &#8211; especially calves and glutes. Hold any painful spots for 20-30 seconds until the pain dissipates.<\/p>\n<p>Dynamic moves &#8211; seriously, 5 minute treadmill\/elliptical warm ups are dead. Try this instead:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Glute Bridge\u00a0x 20 reps<br \/>\n&#8211; 4-way Hip Flexor\/Lat stretch x 2 each side (15s each phase)<br \/>\n&#8211; Squat to Stand (arms in Y position) x 8 reps<br \/>\n&#8211; Core Rotations x 8 reps<br \/>\n&#8211; Bird\/Dog Plank x 8 (each side)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Main workout<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Round 1:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Do each bodyweight exercise in order for 60 seconds, don&#8217;t rest between exercises. Set your timer for 10 rounds.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Walk out to push up<br \/>\n&#8211; Overhead squats<br \/>\n&#8211; Cross body mountain climbers<br \/>\n&#8211; Prisoner reverse lunges<br \/>\n&#8211; Jump rope<\/p>\n<p>Rest for 30 seconds&#8230;Go through this circuit twice in total.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Round 2:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Do each exercise in order for 60 seconds, then rest for 8 seconds (yeah, weird and brutal). Set your timer for 18 rounds.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Low Box Jumps<br \/>\n&#8211; Spiderman Push Ups<br \/>\n&#8211; Bulgarian split squat (30s each leg, pause 3 seconds at the bottom)<br \/>\n&#8211; Burpee Chin Ups<br \/>\n&#8211; Jump Squats<br \/>\n&#8211; Plank Jacks<\/p>\n<p>Rest for 30 seconds&#8230;Repeat the circuit 3 times in total.<\/p>\n<p>Celebrate.
