Deliciousness.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The Biggest Thanksgiving Mistake. Ever.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Fortunately, no one has suffered from my inability to roast a turkey. So this story doesn\u2019t involve any turkey nightmares or family meltdowns.<\/p>\n<p>Two years ago in the lead up to Thanksgiving, I was training one of my clients and of course, we got to talking about food and <a title=\"The Truth About Calorie Counting\" href=\"http:\/\/fatlossaccelerators.com\/site\/truth-about-calorie-counting\/\">calorie counting<\/a> (mind you, most clients love to chat about food while we\u2019re working out. It\u2019s cruel torture if you ask me.)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1634\" title=\"Thanksgiving pie\" src=\"http:\/\/fatlossaccelerators.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/photo-e1353599855161-224x300.jpg\" alt=\"Hula pie\" width=\"224\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/fatlossaccelerators.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/photo-e1353599855161-224x300.jpg 224w, http:\/\/fatlossaccelerators.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/photo-e1353599855161-764x1024.jpg 764w, http:\/\/fatlossaccelerators.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/photo-e1353599855161.jpg 1936w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 224px) 100vw, 224px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Anyway, she was telling me about Hula Pie (a Hawaiian ice cream delicacy) and the amazing pies she was going to bake for Thanksgiving. And yes, she promised me she wasn\u2019t going to eat more than one slice \u2013 ah ha I\u2019m sure that was total bullshit.<\/p>\n<p>Two days later on Thanksgiving Eve, my adorable client showed up to our session with a freshly baked Chocolate Pecan Pie \u2013 for me! The game plan was to take it home, and enjoy it for dessert on Thanksgiving night.<\/p>\n<p>Oh. My. God.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, because the aroma was so tempting and I was freaking starving, I decided to prematurely have a little bite. Just one. And only to make sure it was safe. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n<p>You know what happened to that pie. I won\u2019t lie. Before I even made it home from work that night, more than HALF the pie was gone. And no, it wasn\u2019t all fat little me \u2013 the boys secretly couldn\u2019t help themselves.<\/p>\n<p>The pie was crack. I like to think I have discipline, but I really couldn\u2019t stop. You hear people say one cheat day won\u2019t make any difference to fat loss&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>But\u2026<\/p>\n<p>That 1-2 days of pie madness was enough to send me spiraling. It was the start of my dietary demise into the holiday season. The pie damage appeared in the following weeks, when those few cheeky holiday pounds stuck around. Lucky it was Winter.<\/p>\n<p>And so, this leads me to my number one tip for Thanksgiving Day.<\/p>\n<h3>Number 1 Tip on Thanksgiving:<\/h3>\n<p>Turkey day happens once a year, which carries a lot of family food traditions. It\u2019s crazy to deprive yourself today, but you can still enjoy deliciousness without going completely nuts and destroying your body.<\/p>\n<p><strong>#1: Leave All Your Cards on the Table<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For you, this means:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>Avoid Seconds:<\/strong> One plate is enough. Going back for more is usually not because you are still hungry. Wait 15-20 minutes for the protein in the turkey to start digesting and I\u2019m sure you won\u2019t be hungry. Plus, you will avoid the dreaded food coma.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>Leave the Doggie Bag Behind:<\/strong> Just because it\u2019s there, doesn\u2019t mean you have to take it. \u201cNo, thank you\u201d works wonders, and if you really can\u2019t say no, there are plenty of shelters that would appreciate your donation. Don\u2019t have 10 pounds of leftovers sitting around in your fridge. Or any pies. You will eat it eventually\u2026 Bad news for fat loss people.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>Go For Quality:<\/strong> If you\u2019re only having one plate, you may as well go for the quality stuff that you dream about. Whatever your thing, go for it. One time only.<\/p>\n<p>As you can see, it\u2019s really not that hard.<\/p>\n<p>Just in case you were wondering, this Thanksgiving there are no pies on the menu at our house. Seriously. We\u2019ll be spending Christmas day partying on Bondi beach so I definitely can\u2019t be hiding behind winter coats for six months.<\/p>\n<p>So a big Happy Thanksgiving to all my USA readers!
