BOOM!<\/p>\n<p>With all the <a title=\"Dr Oz Did A Bad, Bad Thing\" href=\"http:\/\/fatlossaccelerators.com\/site\/dr-oz-did-a-bad-bad-thing\/\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">fad diets and miracle supplements<\/span> <\/a>available to speed up your metabolism, it\u2019s no wonder the facts get blurred with the fiction.<\/p>\n<p>Turns out, most of these so-called metabolism tricks are BS and could be sending you down the wrong path.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5833\" src=\"http:\/\/fatlossaccelerators.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/images-1.jpeg\" alt=\"metabolism myths\" width=\"268\" height=\"188\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m warning you right now\u2026 <strong>some of the tips you\u2019re about to read <em>(if not all of them)<\/em> will surprise you<\/strong>. These metabolism secrets go against much of what you read about in mainstream magazines or hear from the trainers at your local gym.<\/p>\n<p>OK, let\u2019s get to the top 5 metabolism myths you need to know about:<\/p>\n<h2><strong>#1: Adding one pound of muscle will drastically increase your metabolism<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>You may have read that by adding one pound of muscle, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">you can burn approximately 50 calories extra at rest every day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Unfortunately this is a huge myth<\/strong> \u2013 otherwise gaining 10 pounds of muscle would mean you could burn 500 calories extra a day by doing nothing additional. It\u2019s too good to be true!<\/p>\n<p>Here are the real numbers\u2026 an extra pound of muscle will burn 6 additional calories per day at rest, while fat burns 2 calories on average.<\/p>\n<p>Sure, it\u2019s better than nothing but not a miracle calorie burner.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, muscle has a relatively low resting metabolic rate. It only accounts for 20-25%, and the vast majority of our Basal Metabolic Rate caloric burn (energy expenditure at rest) comes from function of the brain, heart, liver, kidneys, and lungs.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Truth:<\/strong> Simple dietary changes and exercise habits can make a big difference in how fast someone burns calories at rest \u2013 not just muscle mass.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2><strong>#2: This [Insert Dodgy Pill Name] Will Speed Up Your Metabolism<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>It\u2019s hard to resist the quick metabolism fix that Dr Oz is dangling in front of you\u2026all for under $20 bucks!<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis supplement will help you burn fat while you sit on the couch\u2026 you never have to exercise or diet again\u2026 blahdy blah blah\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But the claims made on these supplements lack true scientific backing. And contain harmful ingredients that could permanently damage your health.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not worth the risk cool cats.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Truth:<\/strong> Avoid miracle pills. Drugs are bad, kids.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2><strong>#3: Eat Every 3-4 hours For a Faster\u00a0Metabolism<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Now this is controversial. Pick up any fitness magazine and you\u2019ll see advice that eating frequent meals can fire up your metabolism.<\/p>\n<p>But \u2013 there is NO solid research evidence to show eating 6 meals\/day over 3 meals\/day will boost your metabolism. (1)<\/p>\n<p>The thing is, your metabolism increases every time you eat anything, and the amount it increases depends on the size of the meal and the amount of carbohydrates\/fats are in the food.<\/p>\n<p>So big meal, big increase in metabolism.<\/p>\n<p>Also, skipping meals does NOT slow down your metabolism. It takes about 3 days of fasting or severe calorie restriction before you metabolism goes into &#8216;starvation mode&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>If eating 6 small meals a day stops you from losing control and binging \u2013 stick with it. Just don\u2019t go around telling your friends it\u2019s speeding up your metabolism.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Truth:<\/strong> The quality and quantity of food has a greater impact on your metabolism, not so much the frequency.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2><strong>#4: Your metabolism automatically slows down as you get older<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>If the first three points didn\u2019t surprise, this surely will.<\/p>\n<p>Your metabolism doesn\u2019t automatically slow as you get older. It\u2019s not like you have a standard \u201cdecline\u201d rate &#8212; and your metabolism doesn\u2019t say,<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cOh boy, you just turned 50. I better slow down by 12.4%\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>It doesn\u2019t work like that.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, as you get older you gradually lose muscle mass, which contributes to a slow down in your metabolism.<\/p>\n<p>But you CAN reverse this seemingly inevitable decline.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, I have a 65 year old client who I helped get six pack abs. We\u2019ve been training for over five years \u2013 and during that time he\u2019s gained muscle, strength and confidence.<\/p>\n<p>You can defy the odds, too.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Truth:<\/strong> If you lift weights and eat healthy consistently throughout your life, you will see a slower decline in muscle mass and you won\u2019t notice any weight gain.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2><strong>#5: Eating before bed will cause weight gain<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><em>\u201cDon\u2019t eat after 7pm\u2026\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cAvoid eating late at night\u2026\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This could be the most popular nutrition advice ever.<\/p>\n<p>But it doesn\u2019t matter what time of day you eat. Sorry, simply refraining from eating at night isn\u2019t enough for you to avoid fat gain. It\u2019s just not that simple.<\/p>\n<p>The food content, the quality, hormones and energy expenditure will influence and determine fat storage.
