Today I have a little tough love for you. It’s tough because it’s true.

But it’s still love and I’m saying this because I care about helping you overcome the obstacles in the way. And sometimes, a reality check is just what you need to get you focused on the straight and narrow.

Here’s a scenario I saw play out while taking a client through a MRT workout at the gym last week. It made my blood boil.

I couldn’t help but witness the drama unfolding two foot away from Eleanor’s push ups.

A fellow trainer at the space was reviewing her client’s food diary on the iPad. This client was airing her frustration at not seeing any fat loss results. Seeing the expression on the trainer’s face, I could tell something was about to explode.

“So every night after dinner you eat cookies. Lots and lots of cookies. You have to stop eating cookies at night if you want to see any results.”

Her client defiantly responded, “No way. I won’t give up the cookies.”

cookie cravings

Hmmm.

The trainer continued to plea with her client to change her cookie monster ways, even trying to get her to cut back to only 3 nights a week.

No beuno.

Listen, I get really annoyed when I hear this going on.

Seriously, you refuse to sacrifice a few measly cookies and continue to get mad at your trainer for not seeing fast results? How on earth do you expect to see anything different if you’re not willing to change?

This woman has the wrong mindset, and there’s no chance she’ll lose that stubborn fat if she continues on her irresponsible, cookie munching escapades.

When you decide to embark on a transformation journey, you must be prepared and willing to make a change, otherwise to be honest, it’s a waste of time. No one forces you to make this decision.

Here’s the truth:

You must take 100% responsibility for your actions.

That’s the first step. It’s not easy. No one forces the cookies down your throat, do they? Accept it.

Transformation is not for the faint of heart. Initially, it’s like a full time job because it requires a lot of groundwork. Be willing to try a different way of living, experiment with new, healthy food and confront your cravings head on.

You have to step out of your comfort zone. Get uncomfortable, because that’s where the magic happens.

Is life easy eating cookies when you feel like it? Sure, damn right it is. If I ate cookies and sweets every time I had the urge to, I’d tip the scales at over 200 pounds!

What’s the one thing you’re cheating on that’s holding you back from taking your body to the next level?

For me, it’s chocolate from an amazing, delish organic brand, Green & Black. Their chocolate with almonds is the bomb.

A number of my clients have pinpointed bread as their #1 enemy. It’s another threat to your waistline. Within a week of eliminating bread from their diet, my clients have seen 3-4 pounds drop off and stay off.

So how do you beat this craving?

The answer is so simple, but not anything you want to hear.
