Happy Halloween! Wanna hear something scary?

Yesterday afternoon I was strolling down 3rd Avenue. (That’s not the scary part…) As I walked past Ricky’s – THE place to go in NYC to get your Halloween get up – I spotted what I thought was a mannequin dressed as a witch.

Next thing I knew, the witch was walking towards me… and in a creepy voice saying…witch on broom

“Come here my pretty…”

I literally jumped out of my skin. Argh!

This chick was obviously having a good time frightening the crap out of people all afternoon. And she totally got me!

Anyway in the spirit of Halloween, let’s count down..

10 things scarier than witches…

#1. High Fructose Corn Syrup

This addictive sweetener is single handedly destroying the health of millions of people around the world. Do yourself a favor. AVOID eating anything with this ingredient. Check the labels. You’ll find it in breads, cereals, breakfast bars, lunchmeats, yogurts, ice cream, sodas and condiments.

#2. Using bad exercise form

That guy at the gym who always uses horrible exercise technique will get hurt one day. Until then, it’s like watching a horror show.

#3. Falling asleep on the NYC subway

And waking up in the wrong hood. Fortunately this has never happened to me… But I’ve heard of a few random adventures.

#5. Homeland

Every episode gives me anxiety – but I can’t stop watching it. Don’t tell me what happened last week. I still have to catch up.

NO joke. It’s as big as a puppy and will set you back at least 1270 calories. That’s almost my entire day’s calorie intake right there… Go with the low-carb salad bowl instead.

#7. Hurricane Sandy

Now that was super scary. This was my first hurricane, and hopefully my last… Who thought half of New York (including my apartment) would be without power and heat for a WHOLE week?

#8. Starbucks Fancy Drinks

Here’s a holiday special beverage you should AVOID. The Pumpkin Spice Latte. A Venti size (20oz) has 510 calories, 20g fat and 64g carbs (of which 61g is sugar!). Are you scared yet?

#9. Ingredient Lists
