We escaped steamy NYC for a few days and hung out on the beach in Bermuda. Hey, why not? It’s only 2 hours away and a hidden tropical paradise. For the record, the water really is baby blue and stand up paddle boarding is my latest obsession
(The beach is just a little bit awesome, right?!)
Taking a beach vacation isn’t just about eating and drinking yourself silly, swimming, taking naps and getting sun burnt. There’s no reason your training program should go on permanent holidays too.
#1 fat loss tip for travelers
Workout in the morning.
The best way to start the day is to get your sweat on. You need to be strategic when you travel. Will you feel like doing a workout after lazing in the beach all day?
I highly doubt it.
Getting your workout done first thing will set you up for success, and increase the likelihood you’ll make healthier choices at meal times.
On Dodgy Hotel Gyms
Of course, there was the token dodgy gym at the hotel in Bermuda. But who in their right mind would workout in a tiny, stuffy space when there is a beautiful, secluded private beach just waiting for you to come and workout?
You don’t need any fancy equipment, or air conditioning to get a fast, fat blasting workout done!
Here’s my awesome bodyweight beach workout, that you can take on a beach vacation or when travelling for work. You don’t need ANY equipment, and it won’t take longer than 30 minutes. Rock on!

I just spent this past Jan-April in New Zealand traveling both the South and North Islands in a campervan with my husband and my 9 yr old son. I can tell you firsthand that working out first thing in the morning is a must! Just do it and get it over with or it won’t happen!!! I worked out in the campground playground, on the beach, in the communal kitchen on rainy days, in the parks on the park bench, etc., etc. ranging from just 15 min to at most 40 min 4-5x/wk. Other campers thought I was a crazy American girl but who cares, right??!!! I stayed fit, lean (despite all those damn date scones, ice cream cones and fish and chips!!!), and proudly wore my bikini on just about every beach you can imagine. BTW….I’m 52 yrs old so that accomplishment ain’t easy!!! Believe me, I was worried before we left that I would be a soft mound of mush when we returned home but I perservered and it paid off! And by the way……I just love your accent!!! I know Aussies and Kiwis like to rival each other but you’re all fabulous and soooooo much fun to party with!!!!
Hey Steph! You rock!! Sounds like you had an awesome trip to Kiwi land. I must admit, it is beautiful even though it’s full of Kiwis
Keep up the awesome work – and yes, we are damn good fun to party with!!
