This question is coming in a lot from readers lately… What is a Fat Loss Accelerator?

Well, first let’s straighten out a few things.

A Fat Loss Accelerator is NOT a:

1. Prescription pill or illegal substance

2. Dodgy supplement

3. Magic fat loss trick

4. Fun thing if you hate exercise

5. Tasty thing you can eat

6. Replacement for your current workout program

7. Tested on animals

I’m still too little for the gym

Right, so if you’re still with me, let’s get into the awesomeness of Fat Loss Accelerators.

You may have figured out this is workout related. Spot on. It’s hard work.

Fat Loss Accelerators is a progressive, hybrid training system that you can use to replace interval training and/or add onto your current workout to:

1. Burn at least 3x more fat in half the time

2. Increase the afterburn effect

3. Skyrocket your conditioning

4. Break through stubborn fat loss plateaus

This is a supreme fat loss conditioning tool that will get your body lean and athletic.

The workouts are based on the combination of workout complexes, hybrid exercises and metabolic resistance training to accelerate your fat loss results.

However, I’ve taken a slightly different approach and rigorously tested it on myself and my clients, getting incredible fat loss results in half the workout time.

Workout Complexes

It’s not as complex as sounds. A workout complex is a two or more exercises performed in succession using the same resistance or piece of equipment without putting the weight down or resting. Most Accelerators use 4-6 exercises per circuit.

The series of movements train your entire body in one, single period, in one space – which means no rest. And yes you’re right; it’s tough. Brutal. If you’ve had a long lay-off from training, build up to this and start conservatively. This intensity is for advanced folks ONLY.

Now, complex training is nothing new. It’s been around for donkeys years and the Eastern Europeans used this as a warm up for their heavy strength sessions. It’s no wonder they were beating the pants off the rest of the world in weightlifting competitions. Oh no sorry, that was thanks to illegal drug use. Oops.

Hybrid Exercises

I love hybrid moves because my creative side shines through. A hybrid exercise is a mash up of two or more exercises that will flow from one movement into another – so much that sometimes one movement isn’t completed before the next begins. It’s an awesome way to improve total body movements and have fun in the process.

A great example of this is the front squat to push press. Think about the movement: there is no definitive end to the front squat before the start of the push press, hence the hybrid move.

The Science Behind Accelerators

Now let’s get into the nitty gritty about the science behind Fat Loss Accelerators. I’ll keep it brief and to the point here.

This type of training is designed to produce a metabolic conditioning effect, not strength. So it’s important you don’t lift too heavy in the first set or it’s game over.

Fat Loss Accelerator style workouts create a physiological response similar to that of interval training, however it’s different.

You see, Accelerator workouts use total body exercises so you train your entire body during a session. Regular sprint interval training on a bike hits your lungs and legs, so your upper body totally misses out. Shame.

The ultimate key to fat loss is boosting your metabolism, and the most effective, proven way to do this is through increasing your lean muscle tissue, aka strength training.

Using more muscle groups during your conditioning session increases the intensity, depletes muscle glycogen and causes muscle damage.

Subsequently post workout, your body goes into recovery mode to repair the muscles and replenish energy stores, causing the extra calorie burning. This is the after burn effect (known as EPOC), so you continue burning calories after your workout at rest. Boom.

How Can You Use Accelerators?

Fat Loss Accelerators is an add-on program, meaning you don’t have to start again. The done-for-you workouts are designed to replace boring interval training on the dreadmill or bike.

Check out this post here as I go into depth about where accelerators fit into your workout and program.

What Makes Fat Loss Accelerators System Different?

It’s a progressive hybrid training system, which means instead of randomly doing a different workout or interval session every day of the week, you set up your program as you would for strength training and stick with it for a month. This is very important as it allows you to make progress through exercise adaptation and improved overall movement patterns.

Throughout the month, you can progress by:

(a) Reducing rest time – this is my personal favorite. Nothing beats cutting rest time to increase workout intensity.

(b) Increasing resistance – go for it but proceed with caution. Make sure your form is always perfect. Heroes don’t use bad form when saving the planet, so neither should you.

Additional word of warning: I would never throw more than 95lbs onto a barbell and try an accelerator. That’s warrior fighter intensity and it might kill you. No joke.

Let me be clear, this is not another insane interval program that makes you do plyo jumps for an hour. Or a random “workout of the day” you find on the Internet.

Ready to test drive my favorite Fat Loss Accelerator today?

Of course you are. You must be totally pumped and ready to rock out with Fat Loss Accelerators. Here’s your chance to get a taste of what it’s like. Let me know how you go in the comments box below.

The Workout

Equipment options: Dumbbells/Kettlebells

Choose a weight you can lift overhead for 10 reps. Perform each of the following in order with no rest, and without putting the weight down. At the end of the circuit, rest for 90 seconds. Repeat for 4 rounds:

A)    Alternating Lunge to Overhead Reach x 6

B)   Squat thrust to Deadlift x 6

C)   Front Squats to Push Press x 6

D)   Push Up to Renegade Row x 6

And here’s my final TIP: when doing Accelerators, type up the exercises in large bold font, print it out and stick it on the wall. This way, you won’t forget any of the movements in the longer circuits.
